The Scholarship was life transforming for me.

Currently Director of Organisational Development for the States of Jersey, I graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a BA Hons in Politics, before gaining a PhD in Government from Glasgow University.

I was awarded a Kennedy Scholarship following my graduation from Strathclyde in 1976 and I studied for a year in the Government Department at Harvard's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

The Scholarship was life transforming for me. As a working class kid from the west of Scotland it opened vistas of knowledge and contacts I had barely dreamt about hitherto.

The sheer thrill of being at Harvard was itself stimulating enough and when allied to the people and intellectual stimulation I encountered it became breathtaking. Truly life transforming.

I am enormously proud both of winning the Scholarship and of having attended Harvard.
