It was a hugely enriching time socially and culturally and one that I will never forget
I was a Kennedy Scholar in 2000/01 and am now a Clinical Fellow and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the University of Dundee. I read pharmacology and medicine at the University of Edinburgh and obtained my medical degree with Honours.
I then worked as a junior doctor in several London hospitals prior to my award. I was a Special Student in genetics at GSAS at Harvard. I spent half my time taking classes and the other half doing research in labs attached to the medical school.
My year at Harvard was most rewarding, as it allowed me to pursue in depth certain aspects of disease-related genetics and provided me with valuable experimental tools for my later work.
But it was also a hugely enriching time socially and culturally and one that I will never forget.
